9 questions to ask when you tour a bilingual school

A tour tells you more than any brochure, as long as you arrive with the right questions. Write down these nine and compare each school's answers.

1. How many hours of English per week are there in my child's grade?
2. Which subjects are taught entirely in English?
3. Which program do you use and what CEFR level does it target?
4. In which grade do you certify English, and with which institution?
5. Are the English teachers certified?
6. What official accreditation does each grade level have?
7. What are the start and end times?
8. What does tuition include and what is paid separately?
9. Are there scholarships, transportation and a cafeteria?

Also watch for

• How teachers speak to students.
• Whether classrooms are in use and what a real class looks like.
• The condition of restrooms, the courtyard and common areas.
